Bridge Foundations
Whether for recreation or vehicle use, all bridges start with a good foundation. Wheeler bridge kits are compatible with all common foundation types. For many applications we offer kits to ease installation.
Abutment/Foundation Plans for Your Bridge Project
Bridge foundations must be specifically matched to your site, the bridge itself and your installation capabilities. With a site specific survey and soils report Wheeler can offer abutment/foundation plans to accompany the bridge superstructure. After reviewing the site conditions and bridge requirements, we’ll recommend an abutment solution that fits.
Shallow or Deep Solutions
Your site conditions and installation capabilities will dictate whether to use shallow or deep foundations. Spread footings can be built from timber kits or cast-in-place concrete. A variety of pile types such as cast-in-place/steel shell, h-pile and helical pile can be capped with timber kits or cast-in-place concrete.

Note: Site and soil information, including grade elevations and a soils report from a geotechnical engineer will be required prior to substructure design. Wheeler will not serve as the Engineer of Record for the project. All local engineering by others.
